Well today I took a simple version of the problem I'm thinking about. The heat equation of the unit square with microstructure in the x-direction. I homogenised the heat equation in the domain, and then I did what I thought was the right thing to do for the boundary conditions. It feels right but I need to code it up to see what going on.

i think the disconnect i feel in courses is that they skip all the fun stuff in order to show us how to make outputs that help society do stuff.
