Hier soir, pendant que résonnaient les premières reprises d'Indochine dans les rues, j'avais ma dernière séance d'atelier de l'année, j'ai pu faire quelques tirages de cette nouvelle aquatinte (version 2.0 après avoir décidé que la plaque de la v1 n'était pas sauvable…)

More of my #etching of the #NationalMiningMuseum #Scotland. I've lifted the sugar to leave the silhouette of the winding gear. Then I put down a rosin #aquatint. I've given the stopped out areas of the plate a coat with a Posca pen as I've found that the particles of aquatint can affect the stop causing tint holes to appear. I've also used resist pen and wax on the cables and some for the structure of the tower so these should come out a bit lighter. Next step etching.

First print of my #aquatint #etching of the Former #Leith Central Railway station in #Edinburgh. I made most of the brass plate by successively stopping out and acid etching for increasing times, up to 10 minutes, to get the range of tones. I used spit bite for the sky, which involves painting the acid onto aquatinted the plate to give a more subtle range of tones. This is printed on Hahnemühle Natural Etching paper using Charbonnel ink.

Just started working on a new #Edinburgh #etching. This one of what used to be #Leith Central Station. It is located at the foot of Leith Walk and is now a GP practice.
This is the brass plate, polished and coated in liquid resist. I've drawn a line image with a needle. Next stages are to etch in acid to bite the lines into the plate and then use a rosin #aquatint to shade in different tones across the plate.
