Can't really play the instrument yet, but the nerd in me makes me already modify my lute. Replaced the copper wound bass strings with Aquila Red loaded nylgut strings. Drilling the bridge hole bigger for the thick bass string on the 7th course was a bit scary, but operation was a success and instrument and player are well. Nut slot needs to be widened a bit still, but that's a job for another day.

The sound of the new strings fit the timbre of the instrument much better than the wound ones, so well worth it.
