Tussen afgeknipte stengels van een opgeschoten selder hangt deze mooie grote cocon (2 à 3 cm groot) vastgesponnen. De cocon zit vol met eitjes van een wespspin. Aangezien het op drie meter hangt van de wespspin van voorgaande toots en filmpje, en deze nog steeds in haar web rustig prooien zit op te vreten, is de eiercocon van een ander exemplaar afkomstig. #spinnen #arachnodon

This beautiful orb weaver made its web in our front door. Left it there all day hoping it would eat some bugs for us.

This Chonky Spider scrambled out from under a bathmat this morning, so I scooped it up and dropped it out the window.
Bigger than anything I've seen in a while, larger than the resident house spider who lives by the front door.

I suppose it's the time of year for critters to start moving indoors!

De wespspin heeft een pyamaschildwants te grazen. Als je goed kijkt zie je op de eerste foto het bundeltje spinsel dat uit de spinklieren aan het achterlijf van de spin komt, en waarmee ze de prooi inpakt. #spinnen #spiders #arachnodon

So many wildflowers out there right now. But all that pollen and nectar doesn't come without risk. Crab spiders are expert pollinator predators, blending in with flowers and ambushing hungry bees and flies. This one caught a whopper.

So I was microwaving tortillas for my tofu wrap this morning (yeah I know, just put it in a skillet, I was in a hurry). Half way through I opened the door to flip them and a spider was running around in there. I quickly helped him out and he rappelled down the range and disappeared. My partner found this spider in our compost. It’s around a quarter of a fingernail. It’s tiny! My insect identification app said it’s a triangulate cobweb spider and it’s beautiful.
