@HardBeingGreen Good morning! I must admit I was hoping for some debate of the budget surplus. It seems #Labor have been keen to big it up but refuse to engage with the very reasonable demand that it be used to boost support for #CostOfLiving.

IMHO it really shouldn't be banked, but allocated to an additional rise in Jobseeker payments with no arbitrary age restriction. Everyone needs to eat and right now we are failing as a society to ensure this most basic need is met. People on JS are on the lowest incomes short of being outside the system entirely, they *need* this support.

At some we really need to have a discussion about the powers and regulatory framework for the #ARB as well.

~1145a Tue 2023-05-02 city was notified of sewage coming out of a manhole near the entrance to the #umich Arboretum on Washington Heights. Public works staff immediately investigated and found a blockage in the sewer pipe, ... gravel and dirt from a collapsed sewer pipe. The overflow caused an est. 200 gal. of sewage to overflow onto the ground, which then flowed down a gravel pathway toward the #arb. No sewage reached any storm drain or waterway.
