Okay so after browsing around a bit looking a new time tracker with a native #Linux app, I eventually came across #arbtt and thought "CLI only... what the heck, it can't be that bad" and HOLY COW it is awesome!!
The new problem is going to be trying to avoid fiddling with the config every 5 seconds to make the reports just a little bit more perfect... lol
@edwinb that happens now and then, when my actual productivity doesn't match my perceived productivity.
"Gladly" I'm struggling with this since I was a kid, so I've started quantifiying stuff I do many years ago with #arbtt and #orgmode.
I don't #orgmode obsessively, but when I notice a drop and, worse, a discord between the self-perception and what's actually going on, I use those as a tool to help me get out of it.
#arbtt is a rule based #TimeTracker implemented in #haskell.
It scans periodically the current desktop status (open windows, its titles, the current active window, and such).
The user, then, can define rules to categorize each time snapshot and print stats.
Last year I developed the #ArbttStats #gnome #extension. It prints simple desktop usage stats farmed from the #arbtt daemon.
Today I submitted an update for Gnome 42 support.
