Nakasuk had a very novel cellular layout featuring open plan classrooms (again, this was the 1970s). The nearly windowless rooms continue to be, shall we say, …controversial. Though as a student there in the 80s, I can’t say I noticed much.

Iqaluit features Inuksuk High and Nakasuk Elementary, a pair of stunning (if conflicted) modernist schools by Papineau, Gérin-Lajoie, LeBlanc, Edwards. Built in 1970s, they are futuristic structures, inspired by then-voguish lunar architectural fantasies, with modular panel assemblies and a stark, sober white aesthetic.

@ntnsndr I wondered, might Social.coop consider hosting additional Mastodon instances for projects with similar ethos, perhaps on a contract or other reciprocal basis? or, how best to raise the idea? The idea came up in discussions about several potential projects—#Citydon, #Archidon, etc

@GrantHenninger @timwaterman a few thoughts applicable to #Archidon / #Urbandon #LandscapeArchidon: 1) to get going and perhaps not miss windows of oppty, even if Mastodon managed hosting svcs are backed up I or others could do an install for now on a generic hosting service, eg #DigitalOcean has updated its installer package and I could most likely do that. Am pretty sure it could be transferred to another host later if needed.
