Speaking of #BlackMetal, heard claiming that the supposedly 3rd wave started with the experimentations of the likes of #Arcturus, #Ulver, #Fleurety and couldn't disagree more. Those were avantgarde black metal, a subgenre of its own. I would identify the 3rd wave more with the atmospheric evolution of the genre (think of Blut Aus Nord, Agalloch, Mgła and many others).

The variant mix in WA continues to be uniquely chaotic, reflecting its situation as a global crossroads.
