Beim ersten klassischen Wettbewerb der #ARDF WM 2023 konnte sich das #DARC Team über eine reiche Ausbeute an Medaillen freuen. In 9 der 12 Kategorien waren sie in der Mannschaftswertung erfolgreich, mit Gold in der M60, Silber in W21, W45 und W55 sowie Bronze in W19, W35, W65, M21 und M40. Dazu gab es Gold, Silber und Bronze für Einzelleistungen.

Von 27. August bis 2. September 2023 findet die 21. #ARDF Weltmeisterschaft der #IARU statt. Für die Veranstaltung im tschechischen Liberec unweit der Grenze zu Sachsen werden mehr als 350 Sportler aus 29 Ländern erwartet.
Das Team des #DARC umfasst 29 Sportler in 12 Altersklassen, darunter einige starke neue Mitglieder. Die Aktiven können auf Unterstützung durch deutsche Fans hoffen.

@metalegg another version of #orienteering with checkpoints and punches is "#adventureRacing," which is usually multisport and spread over a longer distance. The goal is more endurance than fine navigation. I've directed several AR races.

Would love to incorporate #ARDF, but family has taken priority over race directing for the last several years.

Amateur radio direction finding (ARDF) is apparently a sport that has you running around in the woods with a radio, compass, and map, trying to find hidden radio transmitters.

Does anyone have any personal experience doing this? It checks a lot of boxes for me, looks fascinating and intense – would really enjoy hearing what it’s like to do.

#introductions hi everyone, I’m an amateur from central Victoria, Australia. Radio interests include RoIP modes including #IRLP, #EchoLink, #AllStar, #M17, #DMR, #DSTAR, #P25 and #YaesuSystemFusion . Currently not on #HF, but plan to fix that in 2023. In the past, I’ve taken part in many aspects of the hobby including #satellites, #ARDF, #foxhunting, #SSTV, #contesting, and others.

Outside of radio, I’m a Masters #athlete, primarily a #sprinter, and have many science and tech interests.
