@Squozen to be fair I wasn't discussing the solar plan with them. I called and said I'd had a smart meter installed and I'd like to see the readings so I can think about a smart plan. The person I was speaking to said you can't get the readings without switching to the plan first and the plan would definitely see my bills rise so I balked. As I said previously.... #arsebackwards
I asked ESB to install a smart meter a couple of months ago. My thinking was that I could analyse our household usage to see if a solar installation would make sense and also if we might be able to shift some consumption around before switching to a smart plan.
But this is Ireland and that's not how it works. I can't get access to accurate consumption data without signing up for a smart plan first and my provider advised me not do that because it'd cost me more 🙄
