This painting is the first serious art project of any kind that I have brought to completion since I dropped out of art school 13 years ago.

It still doesn't quite feel real. I kept expecting the anxiety to take over and strangle me again. Art is my identity, and in the pressure of student loans and failure and depression I destroyed myself-- almost completely. I feel like a dead spring coaxing a fragile new patch of mud in the bottom.

Please grow. I want to live.

Happy #Saturday, friends! Anybody else trying to push through #ArtBlock? I’ve been struggling the past few months to get any artwork made, and I have an art show submission deadline coming up - eek!

Today, this little nuthatch came to me. This is still a #WorkInProgress with #graphite and a couple of layers of #watercolour laid down. After it dries, I will finish painting details like the feet and eyes. After that, I’ll use #ColoredPencils to deepen the values and add texture to the piece.

Stressbedingt geht es leider erst jetzt mit dem Zeichen-Projekt weiter, das mir @stiftnuersel letztes Jahr zu meinem Geburtstag gestellt hatte... aber ich gebe nicht auf! 36 von 40 Bildern sind fertig. 🙂

Zur Erinnerung: Ich bekomme (mit Storycubes) immer 4 zufällige Symbole für das Thema vorgegeben und eine Linie auf dem Papier (8,5 x 10 cm).

Just finished a humongous task (bar any fixes that are required) I'm now kind of at a loss as to how to function outside of this massive task XD
I think I'm creatively burned out, and generally frankly life has just been an ass for a few years. Not SUPER bad but, enough, sucking the life out of me none the less.
How do you recover when all your creativity has been sucked out of you or when lifes kinda all consuming? o.o

Today was playing with chat.openai and asked it to help me with a list of winter actions + characters, to break my art blosk. And it gave me actually very nice list of prompts to draw. All fears come true. I’m fulfilling tasks from AI. 😅

I can't seem to overcome this #artblock I've been dealing with, so instead I'm distracting myself with something else. I bought the #100DaysofCode #Python class a year ago, when I desperately wanted a career change. I did a few lessons and had to put it in the back burner once I did find a job in a different field, but I think I'll try to dedicate the next few months to completing it.

Oh, so.. the urge to just go and draw something is slowly coming back. Very slowly. But also forcefully. Like.. I have ideas and I want them drawn! I need to get over that anxiety first, tho.

It's like a hurdle in my way and I really just want to jump over and walk the rest of the way, but I fear it's to high so I just stand in front of it and stare it down. Maybe it shrinks!

Irgendwie war alles so schön frostig die letzten Tage. Helle Stunden voller Sonne und Farbe. Jetzt werde ich wieder sehr dunkel innen drin und die Feiertage machen es irgendwie nicht besser. Einerseits freue ich mich auf die ruhigen Tage und die Vorbereitungen, andererseits ist da der emotionale Stress 🖤 Wird schon wieder...
Zum Überfluss leide ich unter dem gefühlten Vergessen von Gelerntem. Meine Bilder gefallen mir nicht zur Zeit.

I've been going through a bit of an #artblock for a ---while--- and I think I'm finally understanding why, since I just stared blankly at an empty canvas in Photoshop for five minutes ... and thats something I never used to do.

I would always arrive at Photoshop with an idea in mind, carrying a sketchbook and putting ideas down, then eventually go to the computer ... instead I just stood here moving my hand around thinking something cool is gonna come out 😅
