When painting something shiny like a silver metal sort of shiny, foe example a lock on the door, a lamp post, the sink, water faucets, stuff like that, take a picture of it and bring the saturation to the max to get an idea on what colours to use and where to put them

We spent a few hours getting our hands dirty at the Arts Center of the Capital Region this afternoon. The open house really makes it clear that this organization does a world of good in our community.

The instructors were knowledgeable, fun, personable and the space and studio set ups are ample and thoughtfully equipped.

I really should have explored here sooner.

Zorn palette update! With just 4 colours plus black and white you can get a multitude of skin tones/shades. I am still mixing 😂
Ultimately, for my purposes - and since I paint mainly expressive portraits - I will probably scale my palette down.

Shells 🐚 I had fun drawing these in the end even though I struggled at the start. I love shells and snails but haven’t really tried to draw them from life in the past. I know these won’t be the last shell drawings I do!

Enjoying being exposed to different styles unsure how much I'm taking in. Used a paint mixing set for this so just cmy black and white and one brown ochre. Decided to make it harder for myself

decided to get a bit silly at art class tonight adult learning class oils and acrylics all levels, was fun enjoyed trying lower levels of light and worked out a cool stone texture with some dry brushing. was a tad on the spot so unsure if either makes much sense both done withing the 2 hours for both. Might improve the stone henge one a bit more, left 20 mins early due to sensory overload triggering of schiz
