I am an artist and professor of Creative Technologies at Virginia Tech. In my work, I focus on the ways technologies of visualization and control intersect with and threaten #trans lives.

I work in #creativecode, #sculpture, #writing, #artistbooks, and more. Lately I have been doing a lot of #webdev for my projects and in my teaching.

Got brave this week and worked on my first letterpress book project. Just a little 12 page, single sheet pamphlet book, of a text I wrote back in 2017. I knew then that it needed to be printed in hand-set type, but at the time I wasn’t sure I had the knowledge, skills, or type collection to do what I wanted to do.

5.5 years later I decided it was time to give it a go. Super happy with how it’s turning out. Learning *so much* in the process, and itching to do more.

**Foldable Dispatches : Radical Warp **

Sharing what Radical Warp looks like printed and folded. For this I used a heavier paper. It was tough to fold. I also printed a couple on a lighter text weight paper.
This zine features a series of drawings on basswood made with Flashe paint and acrylic ink. the drawings are available. Pleased to share my little writing inside too.

This week an impressive box came into our #artistbooks collection: "Zarathustra" by #RezaAbedini, who comes from #Iran. 20 signed silkscreen prints (signed) together with a multilingual booklet offer a visual interpretation of Nietzsche's seminal text. The box is an invitation to question everything (including religions) and yourself, your attitude towards the world.

today, among others, 2 new concept books came into our #artistbooks collection: one whose illustrations lie in the dark between the pages that have not (yet) been cut open. New in our #artistbooks collection: Josef Bares "ACEEEHIIKPRTZ" (2021). The title and the book itself consist only of the letters that make up the words "Ich akzeptiere" (I accept). Bares draws attention to the dangerous training that the constant cookie accepting on the internet also means for our everyday experience and our political attitude.

Yes, I still make my #artistbooks from scratch - like my book "Coffee Beans Plus H2O" that is currently in an exhibit at the Bainbridge Island Art Museum @bimuseum.of.art - but my friend @laurarussell23 gave me some really good advice some time ago that has encouraged my #blankbook filling habits...(thanks again Laura!)
