Another experiment in composition with gull feathers.

This one is on a large (60 x 50cm) piece of fabulous Arches paper.

Unfortunately, it's hard to capture the richness of the blue, or the texture the paper gives. It's by far the most satisfying depth of colour... the feathers are floating either in a deep sea or in the perfect sky.

This I spent alot of time staring at this work in progress to the extent I literally dreamed about it and woke up thinking 'I must remember that, maybe it would work'. The Fear struck. Because there's something I like and don't want to destroy .

is invaluable, but sometimes there's no class, or there is & it's too far away/out of budget, but if self portraits were good enough for Rembrandt & all the other professional , historical & contemporary, then they're good enough for me. Plus how else to record in perfect detail mother nature's slow haircut gift.
