So, along side starting to show my drawing process, I figured I should show some of the tools I use as well. Best part, they are all free and can be accessed on your browser!

referenceangle.com/
A rotatable 3d model of a head. Move it to an angle you are trying to draw, and it will find irl photos closely matching the angle you set! And there are options for gender, age, and a few expression options!

x6ud.github.io/#/
Similar to the last site, but for animals! Several 3d renders of animal skulls to rotate around, then finds pictures of a variety of species matching closely to the angle you set!

reference.sketchdaily.net/en
A good site for practicing! Randomly chooses references for you to practice drawing! You can set it to a classroom style, where the references cycle out at set timed-intervals, or manually! 5 categories to choose from, all with various options: Full Body, Body Part (Hands, Feet, Head), Animals, Structures, and Vegetation.

posemaniacs.com/
Daily poses with focus on muscle anatomy! 3D male and female models that you can rotate around. Even has a searchable catalog of previous poses. Also has light settings for the models!

roomstyler.com/3dplanner
Build a 3D room, or use an existing pre-built one. You can move a camera around the room to visualize how your background might look from a certain point of view! Great for me, as I'm horrible of visualizing backgrounds, lol!

A quick tip for artists just joining mastodon and pawb.fun! Hashtags are very important on here, as Mastodon doesn’t use algorithms. Hashtags are THE way for your post to be seen across all of the different instances of Mastodon! Make sure to hashtag your art with the proper hashtags so they get the attention they deserve! (And so you can attract more followers. :blobfoxhyper2: )

Gonna install this on my blog and see what it does to discoverability. If you’re an artist and don’t have your very own online presence, you should! It’s easy and either free or as cheap as a cup of coffee a month from some hosting companies (just listen to @guigar over on the comiclab podcast)

Artists regarding newsletters: “I don’t know what to put in there!”

Here’s a list to help you get started: 🧵

1. Here’s a big one: ✨✨✨ART!✨✨✨
Newsletters don’t have to be a 3-part-epic-novel update. A simple update with “Hey friends! Here’s a new piece I recently finished. What do you think? :)” is enough.

2. Shop updates
3. Sale announcements
4. Do you stream? Announce them!

I love adding black backgrounds, borders & other areas of black to my artwork. In the past I mostly used India ink because it’s affordable, easy to use, and easy to find in stores. But now I'm curious if I can find something better.
I tested and compared 14 different mediums based on the following criteria:
1. Darkest value
2. Even coverage
3. Most matte
4. Ease of application

The rounding and backing continues. Here the sections have been hammered into an interlocking arch.

Oh! While I'm thinking about it, I think I have some coloring tips???

When coloring a piece, one thing that can help you avoid missing spots is to have a fill color that is both easy to see and easily distinguishable between the overall color of your piece.

This can be done with an off-gray color, or with a totally bright like. Magenta. It just depends on what you're coloring and what works for you!
