I see I am going to be constantly annoyed by generated art and how people don't look at things with any real attention. Just saw a generated image that's "Van Gogh does the apocalypse" and, well, it very loosely looks like Van Gogh's work because it uses yellow and is swirly but it totally doesn't get what Van Gogh was doing with those brush strokes or have any of that visual meatiness because of how painterly Van Gogh's work is so it's gimmicky. It entirely ignores that Van Gogh's works were a love letter to the natural world (which, incidentally, made throwing soup onto the protective glass to protest climate change very apropos).

*Yes, I know people are just having fun playing with it and I'm not out to spoil anyone's fun, which is why I'm airing my art nerd grievances about it here. I'm starting to find the aesthetic all very same same, as is often the case with digital tools, and I'm wondering if it's the tool or just how people are using it... (Which is not to say I haven't seen some fun throwaway imagery being created.)

8Bitdo Zero 2 game pad is freaking wonderful as an art program keyboard shortcut remote. It's so tiny (and cute), so it can just easily fit in my hand as I lazily prop my head up with that hand and draw in the other. Can still hit all the wee little buttons. I love this little thing!

Tested laminating watercolours and how they hold up to light.

Summary: laminating won't destroy your painting, it will look fine, great for bookmarks, but it does not protect your art from fading if you use fugitive colours.

I continued sketching some loose skies in my tiny sketchbook.

Hope this helps while I prepare a video on colour mixing and some basic knowledge about watercolors. Being friends with a few paint makers taught me a lot and I've seen some confuzing info out there, so I wanted to share.

So black watercolour paper is a thing now. I've got some, that is 100% cotton and tried it for the first time now. The paints are some pastell colours mixed with a lot of white pigment. There will be reviews on paints and paper soon. Links in profile.
