Not my CD but I am borrowing it from a friend. Interesting album, but nothing really stayed with me yet, now that I have listened to it twice. It's just a tad funky and the vocals are akin to that of #OMD's lead singer in my opinion. I certainly will (have to) listen to this again!

XTC - “Grass” b/w “Dear God”
Grass is a very well composed pop song. It’s fine.
But I’ll always have fond memories of hearing “Dear God” when it debuted. 1986 was peak satanic panic, with the rise of the religious right and their weird fights against modernity. They HATED this song, simply because it questions the existence of “God”.
There was a lot of backlash, but the song still got played a lot and helped drive some insightful conversations among my classmates. Progress!

I had no idea what this was going to be when I bought it a week ago, but it looked kinda cool so I decided to throw a dart at it. I’m on my 2nd spin through and it’s quite growing on me.
