Y’all, IDK what #Prismacolor is up to but they are SERIOUSLY clearing out their #coloredpencil sets. I’ve seen them on clearance in-store at Michael’s, Blick, and Staples. There’s even some probably-real full 150 sets on Temu.

I’m guessing it has something to do with their changing out Lavender and Lilac, or they’re changing packaging, or getting rid of their enormous stock of pencils that break when you stare too hard at them.

In other art supplies as household sundries news I'd like to introduce you all to china pencils.

They're pigmented wax based pencils intended for marking glass and porcelain but where they really shine is temporary markings on plastic.

I use them to write down contents of opaque storage bins, label tea jars, put expiry dates on tupperware and write dates on that special egg tray in the fridge.

They remove with a little bit of warm soapy water.

I'd like to inform anyone who is using IKEA SCHOTTIS and struggling to get the blinds clipped all the way up with the supplied plastic doodads that art / drawing board clips are an excellent and aesthetically pleasing solution to this problem.

Today I chose to organise my art supplies instead of doing the last of my work, which I can do now or even later today. I made something to take my brushes outside without damaging the hairs (cardboard is so versatile); put all the outside stuff in one little bag; put all the projects in progress in another, bigger bag; made swatches of most of my watercolour pencils, and one small painting after trying out a pencil case as a mixing well.

I have given up on my Derwent Superpoint manual sharpener. It has never worked properly. Not only is the crank difficult to turn but it bites into the pencil leaving deep gouges and this morning it just ate up the wooden core of the pencil. I’m done! #MastoArt #ColorPencil #ArtSupplies

I made an #art (in progress) - I need to do *something* with the shadows behind the big critter & sketch out more desert plants & such in the mid-ground.

I'm currently using #ColoredPencil but will probably add some #InkPen & #AlcoholMarker detail work when I get to the finishing touches.

Today’s art - work in progress at the drawing desk. Using a Uni 2 mm red lead clutch pencil and General “white charcoal” (chalk) pencil on Strathmore gray paper.
Slightly hampered by not being able to find my Uni 2 mm lead sharpener, necessitating a quick Jet Pens order, which led me to discover Uni is making a .28 mm oil based ballpoint so I had to order in black ink and in blue ink, but hey the larger order qualified for free shipping.

I just bought some #ArtSupplies. It's necessary, and sometimes fun to shop for them, but UGH they are expensive... but now that's done, and I will soon have the materials I need to make 2 new paintings!

I have 3 pieces of masonite, enough latex house paint to make 2 gallons of gesso, plenty of mica in many colors, and on its way are 10 more pigments, and 4.5 lb. of marble dust! I am REALLY excited to be using some of these new pigments again for the first time in may years! Mica is very amazing, but more as a gilding or glazing, I'm finding. I'm also learning a lot about how to properly mix gesso to avoid lumps, bubbles, and cracks! There's a lot more to it than just the ratio of ingredients, as it turns out...

At first I couldn't find my sharpener and had to use the letter opener to sharpen my pencils, but I found my sharpener last night.

Now I've lost my eraser. It's somewhere in this room...

Oh well, my partner is working in the office today and she is going to 'borrow' an eraser for me. Maybe two. One for back up.
