I just posted a review of the 8BitDo controller for artists over on the Cohost page.

By artists I mean people who use Photoshop and Clip Studio Pain to draw comics and illustrations. We use these controllers has shortcut remotes with Wacoms and other drawing tablets.

I find it impressive the difference I feel from one brand of drawing tablet to another.
I got one from Parblo which feels like I'm getting some resistance. The strokes are delayed and generally feel like I'm scratching cloth.
Fed up with that, I bought one from XPPEN and the difference is astounding. Like flowing water, the strokes are fluid and instantaneous, and the sensation from the pen is leaps better than my old tablet.

I gotta have my pool noodle and bolster foam. They're not pretty, but they work for me. Add to that a rotating keyboard, and I'm set. I just can't set aside these indispensable tools.

It may seem rather unpolished to prop up my iPad this way, but I’ve used these makeshift tools for several years now, and I can’t find anything that substitutes for all of them they way I use them!

I’m quite happy with them!

Just as a few people asked after my last post: this is the lovely Rotring Art Pen.
I'm still posting from my covid sickbed, so not the nicest photos, I know, haha! But who needs good backgrounds when we can stare at stationary? ❤️
I love a full dip pen, but the art pen acts like a fountain pen. Cartridge-filled. It's super convenient for on-the-go (or sickbed) drawing with no fear of spilled ink! And it feels lovely to use.

Just found some old friends— my old burnishing tools from when I majored in Printmaking at college.

Intaglio was my method of choice; mainly with zinc and copper plates. I *loved* aquatinting. I once used these tools to burnish a plate that had been so badly foul bitten it printed almost black back to a shiny surface. Yes, I had blisters. ^^;

I was thinking I might be able to repurpose them for some sculpting with sculpy. :thinking_rotate:

Trying to find affordable tools a came across this tech pen made by Alvin, isn't half of Rotring quality body wise (materials/finish) but quite surprisingly smooth on the inking.

I think they have potential and at the price I found them I really can't complain, I just finished a piece, alternating pens, no issues so far, I hope last for long.

Fellow artists, do you have trouble finding the right lighting and colour, do you just want your pieces to look physically right? Colour Constructor is a little tool developed by Murry Lancashire that simulates colour behaviour under certain lighting conditions! It's best to see it in action.
