I have been using #AsahiLinux for more than a week now. It has been stable except for the grub2 update. It was quickly remediated though! Battery seems fine for my use case (web browsing, YouTube, ncspot).

Finally took the plunge and installed #AsahiLinux on my #M1 #Macbook Air. The installer is surprisingly easy to use. There's a few showstoppers remaining but I can easily see this being a great full-time #Linux laptop.

This is Fedora #AsahiLinux with a 16K page size kernel, running a 4K kernel within a libkrun microVM and launching an x86_64 game (Roto Force demo) using FEX-Emu, which integrates seamlessly as a regular app in the desktop.

Recorded with a camera to avoid the performance impact of recording the screen locally.

Disappointed that an #asahilinux #archlinux upgrade using pacman removed a .so I was linking against. System updates ought to leave my software running.

Not sure there’s going to be an upgrade path to the #fedora Asahi spin so I will probably have to wipe and restart at some point.

As part of the news that @AsahiLinux is shipping the first conformant GPU driver for Apple silicon, you can also get access to this via the Fedora Asahi Remix!

Additionally, the Fedora Asahi SIG will need to work past the end of August to finish polishing the official release. No more breaking changes are expected between now and release time, however.

Because I used to love #apple before they got infatuated with #DRM, i.e. when they supported #MkLinux.
#asahilinux hackers of course deserve many kudos, yet I dream to see #Apple release specs for M1/2 so that #reverseengineering is not required.
