Indulge me with something royal - #ascot started today and my favorite #british #jockey is Holly Doyle. Today in front of the King she won . Her and her husband , also a jockey ,are both coming off injury but she did something today.

Having heard the same predictions about the demise of the LNP party in 2007 - and for that matter about the GOP in 2008 - the nihilist in me assumes that in about twelve months people will forget about the awfulness and be very aware of transient cost of living issues and once more find that second classing a bunch of people is a fair price to pay for comforting lies about economic and financial realities. #ascot

This is commendable in my eyes, but how about stopping the cruel sport of horse racing altogether.

Horse riding is one thing, even utilising them to help with work if need be, but racing them is something else we've inherited from our ancestors, especially the royals and upper class.

Behaviour by some at Royal Ascot these days is nothing but a chance to get drunk.
