One thing few seem to know is that #ASD isn't illustrated by a *gradient* of LOW to HIGH but by a SPECTRUM. (Thx to Rebecca Burgess and NAfME for the attached graphic.)
Follow autistic people. Pause more readily when you see a post that references the condition. Your fellow humans have both collective and inherent value.

One of the problems highlighted by these coroners is “late diagnosis of autism”.

Where I live, for children, the time from referral to clinical assessment/diagnosis is currently TWO YEARS. For adults it is THREE YEARS. And then they sneer at private diagnoses.

They also identify “a lack of trained staff with an understanding of autism”, so good luck getting on the referral pathway at all.

Again, this government and this country do not care if you suffer and die.

@sutter Ah, project planning is the bane of my #ADHD #ASD existence. Probably my absolute worst skill between time blindness, bouts of hyperfocus, scope creep, and distractability xD

That was one of the few classes I almost failed in college.

Genuinely surprised and appreciative at how far my job hunt toot went, how much it escaped my circles, and the amount of boosts it got. I would never have gotten this kind of reach on birdsite even with 2k followers.

Still can't help but feel a tad defeated that outside of that reach, I barely got any replies. Thankful for the few I did get, was just hoping the shot in the dark on this more tech-friendly platform would yield more support. I got a bit excited that I might catch a break when I seen the post escape my circles and got my hopes up prematurely as I am prone to do, bad habit of mine.

I've had a lot of help from so many awesome people just to get this far, to help me get to the starting line with this job hunt. I'm super scared I won't find something in time, and am extremely anxious it'll all blow up in my face, and all the precious time people gave me with their help be for nothing.

That anxiety is weighing very heavily on me, and combined with the seeming lack of job posting I'm seeing for my roles, I'm very nervous and it's crippling me a bit, making my #adhd and #ASD 's worst traits take over. If I have to settle for an entry level job and take a huge paycut despite my experience (if I can even find one), so be it, but what little self-confidence I have left will be shot.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just getting more frustrated by the day.

Hi folks!

I'm currently awaiting a formal assessment for #ADHD to add alongside my #ASD diagnosis.

While I'll be looking at strategies to help manage my lack of executive function & attention, I expect to ask for medication.

The major issue for me, however, is that I don't do well with stimulants 😅

E.g., a single energy drink or coffee make me jittery, as will typically more than 1 cup of tea in the morning.

Age and theory of mind predicted fewer lies from non-autistic adults, but not autistics adults.

Lie acceptability predicted more lies in both groups.
