@DanMorgan @_L1vY_ @postfilm Almost similar. Australian Broadcasting Commission #cricket commentary of the #Ashes playing in England. Ball by ball updates came in by telex and the commentators would comment, complete with fake sounds of bat on ball etc.
I've never been much of a sports fan. Except for test cricket, which is down to long days watching with my grandfather, who passed on his love of the tactics. In the highly unlikely circumstance that I would have wanted to play, not going to happen...
girl after all.
Then, a few years ago, I found myself increasingly addicted to road cycling, again because of the tactics revealed by SBS commentators.
This year has been a bit of a revelation. Hung on every moment of the #WAshes as simultaneously lost interest in the #Ashes. Got mightily pissed off with the level of coverage available for the #LeTourFemme but also lost ridiculous amounts of sleep over the #LeTour.
Then, I found myself watching the #Matildas campaign, and even the loss in the semi hasn't blunted the extreme good feelings from seeing those women play.
So here's the thing. Lost interest in the men's cricket because, frankly, thought the English men's team carry-on was pathetic. Can't abide AFL because of all the posturing and bullshit that goes on around and by the players (grew up in a country town in the 70s ... the double standard and crapola was nauseating.) Haven't been all that interested in A League, again because of the bullshit from players and supporters alike.
Turns out it might be that women play a talented, inclusive, no bullshit form of the games that appeals to this very marginal sports follower more.
And isn't it interesting that Sydney public transport had problems after last night's game because of a couple of dickead men making it about them. And did I see that some men making it about them caused problems in the stadium crowd last night.
There's a pattern here.
And ffs no #notallmen responses. I'm over that bullshit as well.

No #NicheFootball available tonight, so after an enforced hiatus of nearly 4 weeks due to #sumo and #Ashes commitments, I may just crack open another season of Columbo later.

A look back at the conclusion to an amazing Ashes summer, a mention of a massively successful banknote auction and one of my regular photo galleries.

The Test #cricket summer in England (from the England-Ireland match at Lord's through the World Test Championship final and the Men's and Women's #Ashes) lasted 61 days. Willow.tv subscriptions are for 30 days, so it looks like I have an extra 29 days in case I'm morbidly curious about #TheHundred.
Watching the highlights from yesterday even though I saw it all live ... I'm not convinced that #MitchMarsh was out. The dismissal looked odd when seen from behind the bowler, so I went through it frame by frame, I don't think he got bat on ball (so not a catch), and that the ball was going over the stumps (so not LBW). He walked anyway so it's moot, and the umpire signalled out too, but well worth a review I reckon. #cricket #Ashes
What an amazing finish. I was always pessimistic about the last innings after Moeen's injury, but he came through, Bairstow silenced the doubters about his keeping by taking the critical catches, and Broad delivered the perfect storybook ending. #cricket #Ashes #ENGvAUS

You can trumpet all you like about a wonderful #Ashes series but my abiding memory of it will be the incredible poor sportsmanship on display at Lords by the English
In a fitting climax to his illustrious cricket career, Stuart Broad delivered a memorable performance, sealing England a series-tying victory on Day 5 of the fifth Ashes Test against Australia on Monday.

This #Ashes #cricket series has been a joy to listen to.
My American friends would struggle to believe that a 5-match series that lasts for 30 days (not including breaks between matches) can end in a draw and yet still be a thrilling spectacle.
Superb #BazBall cricket by England to level things at the very brink.
