In terms of 60's psychedelia, drug intake, and excess, German bands played harder than most, and certainly went beyond most reasonable boundaries (in fact, they weren't particularly concerned that the 60's were technically over). A case in point is the strange story of the Cosmic Jokers, which included members of #AshRaTempel, #TangerineDream, #DieterDirks, and ungodly quantities of LSD.

"E2-E4" wasn't the first time Manuel Göttshing saw him self in the eye of a creative hurricane.
"Amboss" the opening track on #AshRaTempel's debut LP, still slaps hard.
Word was, no-one ever got to hear the raw, live sound of the Stooges, because no recording engineer would let them record that. But in Germany in the late 60s, recording engineers didn't have a clue about what to do with these rock bands, and Ash Ra Tempel were free to do as they pleased in the studio.
