I have a MacBook and would like to digitize some of my vinyl records. The signal is coming off a pre-amp into a USB connection on the Mac. A few years back, I used #audacity for this work. Is that still the best FOSS application to use for macOS? #askfosstodon

Anyone have an idea for a simple, lightweight monitoring tool for my Raspberry Pi servers? Something that quickly lets me check CPU load, memory usage and some other stuff to see if they're fine? Optionally with notifications? There's like a gazillion tools but I find it difficult to find one that's not too overengineered and still maintained 😕

Someone mentioned Proxmox as a virtual server, but I've heard nothing but problems with trying to bind the GPU hardware to a VM. In particular it seems Proxmox had only gotten support to do that at all very recently.

Plex is easy to setup, but currently requires Ubuntu to actually support most of their transcoding logic, a subscription for GPU use, and won't transcode most HDR content for licensing reasons.
Jellyfin transcodes way faster with less resources and actually supports must distros equally, but has a worse UX and is harder to setup, especially if you want access from outside your home.

Unless you're storing 4K UHD content that needs streaming to non-4K-UHD devices, you don't *need* a GPU if your CPU is less than 17 years old, but it can still help offload as you inevitably load it up with other processes.
That card is also capped by the drivers at 1, 2, or 4 (I don't remember which for that card) simultaneous transcode sessions without special unlocking because it's not a commercial card.

Anyone know of an app I can use to fire HTTP requests on Andrpid? It has to be open-source.
I tried http shortcuts but it shows me the response immediately whereas I'd like to switch that off and fire the same request a bunch of times from my home screen or something.

So I set up a jellyfin container on my RPi 4 and hooked it up with my remote Nextcloud via mounting the WebDAV folders with rclone. This does work but the performance isn't great. Does anyone have experience with this kinda thing and can tell me what to look out for?

- is open source and/or doesn't phone home
- can be connected to my Android phone without Google Play Services
- shows phone notifications
- allows navigation (via phone)
- has media controls (for phone)

These are in descending order of importance. I am aware of the PineTime but that never arrived here, unfortunately.

I'm wondering whether I should keep self-hosting Vaultwarden (reimplementation of bitwarden).
I started it just to try it out but liked it so much I ended up depending on it. Thing is, I'm not a very dedicated admin (no time) and the thing is open to the internet right now. Not sure if I can change that without reducing usability by much.
On the other hand all my passwords are in there which is of course very sensitive data.
