Talk of us being ‘evolution’s response to the industrial age’ makes me very uneasy

(a) I believe we’ve been around for a lot longer than that as a vital part of human diversity (and, though I’m no expert, I don’t think human evolution happens that fast)

(b) The idea that we are better adapted to the industrial age (ironic when most of us struggle to cope) feels uncomfortably close to the ‘aspie’ supremacist (and eugenicist) ideas espoused by people like Temple Grandin

Don't fall into #AspieSupremacy thinking, even when it is a soothing balm for your painful experiences. If having a "super power" is what gains you acceptance, that's not real, it's ableism by another name. It's "fuck you I got mine". It's not healthy, it's toxic.
Don't be Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, accepted when he's useful and discarded for being different the rest of the time.
