Two things I know:

1) The #FBI doesn't send in a #SWAT team to execute a pre-dawn warrant for no reason.

2) #FoxNews lies.

Their story is based entirely on the uninformed family. In the absence of any actual information, the family has filled in the blanks with their #assumptions and speculations. It's a classic argument from #ignorance. "I don't know, therefore whatever makes sense in my head is true."

Let's wait for information before jumping to absurd conclusions.

If I say that your #conclusion is #incorrect because of #faulty #assumptions or because of #mistaken #facts or for any other reasons, it does NOT mean I believe in or am #advocating for whatever the opposite of that conclusion happens to be.

Ya, this doesn't seem to be a thing in my experience.

I've met and talked with tons of #Americans. I don't think I've ever heard one express #animosity to Canada. #Confusion, yes. Mistaken #assumptions, yes. #Cliches and #stereotypes, yes. All the #ignorant #naivete you ever heard: we live in #igloos, we just got #electricity last year, all pets must by law be named #Pierre.

And lots that know #nothing about #Canada, including where it is.

But no #hatred.

It's a pretty serious problem that #assumptions on the same level as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spherical_cow are rampant in #medicine.

There is a dreadful lack of #ScientificRigor from many whom are supposed to be PhDs.

I can’t disabuse your application of its #stateless delusions, when it always expects to find the same set of search indexes, too big to rebuild quickly, in its local file system upon every restart.

Re-platforming to #kubernetes should make you re-examine your application’s #assumptions. This should have happened a few years ago during The Great Containerization. This should not be rearing its ugly head now as we try to adopt the #cloud with a minimum of #refactoring.

This may be unpopular but

Just by looking at someone you cannot tell

If they are gay or straight

If they are bisexual/Pansexual/Omnisexual

If they are Trans or Cis

If they are allosexual or asexual

The ONLY way to be sure of anyone's Sex, Gender, Pronouns or Orientation is for them to tell you, you can ask but they do not have to tell you.

If you make assumptions about any of the above, you have to expect that you might be wrong.

Reading through the various discussions in #HackerNews has opened to a lot of viewpoints positive or negative. I find the #conversation so there quite substantial and structured enough that I find myself questioning some of my #assumptions and #beliefs sometimes, whether that be if they were shallow, deep, correct, or incorrect. For some, if I don't read with a critical eye, I think I can miss the point entirely if I'm not careful.

Mighty big assumption about the dimension of the problem. Last weekend I got similarly schooled! The funny thing is, despite our memory of the Hindenburg, even hydrogen balloons are difficult to shoot down. During WWI, Germany used Zeppelin to deliver bombs and even British airplane cannons found it difficult to do more than make holes in them, and then they just slowly deflated while causing damage. Not even tracers did the trick. It took the development of special weapons. If the balloon is helium (who can tell at a distance), that special weapon wouldn't work. A sidewinder does the job and kills the payload at the same time.

I had an enjoyable time doing in-person training today. Delivering #unconsciousBias for the #DiversityTrust. Very engaging discussions with the senior HR and Legal team from #Cambridge & Counties Bank in Leicester. Not only great conversations around #assumptions, #microaggessions and #streotyping.
But I was even given lunch. Now that doesn’t happen every day.
