¿Alguien pudo ver #AsteroidCity sin adelantarla o borrarla al rato? ¿Hay que drogarse?

Finally watched #AsteroidCity. #WesAnderson continues to kick all up and down a movie. Loved it. Just fucking loved it.

I finally watched 'Asteroid City' (on Peacock). Not gonna lie -- I'm on the fence. I think I get what the movie's all about, yet I don't. It's not as straightforward as Wes Anderson's previous films, and I know it suffers from an unfair comparison to 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', which I consider to be his masterpiece. Well, I tend to compare his post-'Budapest' films to it, anyway, so that's on me.

I'm sure, like his other films, the theme of loneliness underlies the quips and deadpan humor, but things don't completely coalesce into something more meaningful by the end. I didn't care for 'The French Dispatch', but I loved the pathos of the two outsider characters at the end of the film (an immigrant and a gay man).

For 'Asteroid City', it *almost* gets there, but somehow I got the feeling that Anderson put so much effort on visual magic (incredible colors and scenes, btw) that he couldn't quite make the plot work with it. It was a fun watch on the whole, though -- lots of moments when I "ugly laughed" (the musical number about the alien killed me).

And with such a packed cast, it's disappointing to have some of the bigger names get a bare mention (still kinda salty to have so little of Jeff Goldblum). But that's his style, and it's expected. So, yeah -- I'm glad I finally got to see it though it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped.

I’m currently viewing #AsteroidCity, and much as I came into somewhat cynical after #WesAnderson’s last couple films, to my surprise the pure artistry of the customary opening framing device grabbed me like a vice- perhaps due to the assertion that it’s all entirely fictional. Have you viewed this #film? #cinema

Finally managed to fit #AsteroidCity into the viewing. The audience score on this is brutal. I appreciate some movies like Beau is Afraid having lower scores but this one seems to have been savaged considering it's quality.

Hoe visueel verzorgd Andersons werk ook is, het zijn eigenlijk de dialogen die de films maken. Ook nu. Maar het komt alemaal niet binnen. De karakters lijken van karton. Het verhaal is tegelijk te dun en te vol. Het lijkt te doordacht.
Tegelijk: ik kan het wel waarderen als aan een film veel zorg en aandacht is besteed, zeker als er grappige vondsten in zitten, en het geheel wat absurd is. Dus waarschijnlijk ga ik zijn volgende film gewoon weer zien.

@sezduck in my experience the nicest people play the best assholes. I can’t explain it. The one exception is Tom Hanks. He tried in #AsteroidCity and it just didn’t work.

Just watched it. Great cast. Good acting but the story... it just doesn't gel.

I love Wes Anderson films but this isn't making my top 5 list from him.
