Best birthday of my life: in a few days my 🇪🇺 @ERC_Research -funded project MindTheGap will start at Utrecht University 🇳🇱 and I've just received approval of my request for the @eScienceCenter to join the project.
I will work with a team including @Niklas_Hohmann and a postdoc, research software engineers, and scientists from 🇩🇪🇬🇧 on Darwin's greatest concern: that the fossil record is too jumbled up to allow us reconstructing #evolution. We'll unjumble it using sedimentary forward modeling and build an interface providing #geoscience data into #phylogenetic models.

Developing an ERC project with the brightest minds in #sedimentology, #astrochronology and #phylogenetics and involving research software engineers were as if someone turned the light on in a dark room 💡
