The #XRISM mission will be launching on Sunday. It's an X-ray telescope that's a joint effort between #JAXA (the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and #NASA
Here's a NASA video discussing XRISM's significance (7 minutes):

People are freaking out over a question mark seen in space. Scientists can explain

I grew up thinking of the Big Dipper as a question mark in the sky. I thought of it as saying to me, "What the f**k are you doing here?"
Exoplanets in the Trappist-1 system more likely to be habitable than scientists once thought, study suggests

Other than #HoustonWeHaveAPodcast, any recs for podcasts on #Astronomy or general #Space for someone with a budding interest? (That is me. I'm the someone.)
Please and thank you!

If I am understanding this correctly, due to two coronal mass ejections tomorrow, millions will lose internet so they will not be able to work from home. Additionally, vehicle engines will not work, so there is no getting to work, either. Guess it is just those happy bicycle riders who will be working tomorrow. If I understand this right.
'Cannibal' coronal mass ejection that devoured 'dark eruption' from sun will smash into Earth on July 18

Yeah, the Orion capsules are cool, but have you seen the #DeltaFlyer?
These 3 #Orion spacecraft will carry #Artemis astronauts to the moon (photo)

I have to believe that someone at #LockheedMartin, some small department, is playing and thinking out the long game, drawing up schematics for #StarTrek inspired spacecrafts like the Delta Flyer.

Credit where it's due, #JWST might just have the edge on my old Nikon.
(if you have the bandwidth and the hard drive space, you should really download the full res version and view it at 100%)

Scientists work to prevent interplanetary pollution that could pose a threat to life on Earth

"Imagine robotic rovers taking soil samples on the surface of Mars, looking for evidence of past life and instead finding bacteria that had traveled all the way from Earth: the impact on subsequent research would be incalculable."

https://www.space.com/james-webb-space-telescope-Euclid-hunt-dark-energy-matter
" #Euclid is expected to cover 15,000 square degrees of the sky, in which it will survey about 1.5 billion galaxies from the early universe by capturing light that is about 10 billion to 13 billion years old. Using these data, scientists hope to clock the universe's expansion across eons and pinpoint exactly when dark energy — which now makes up 68% to 72% of the universe's energy and matter — began accelerating the cosmos."

A chaotic star is inching toward a violent death as astronomers watch in real-time
https://www.space.com/chaotic-star-wolf-rayet-supernova
"The star, located in the nearby Triangulum galaxy (also known as Messier 33), is in the middle of a transition into a class of highly unstable stars called Wolf-Rayet stars. New observations show that the star has begun beaming a new signal that was not seen when the star was first spotted in 2018."
