In 2022, a sub-orbital flight demonstrated that menstrual cups can survive the turbulence and microgravity of a rocket launch and remain functional.

Now researchers want to send them to the International Space Station to test them during a long exposure to space radiation.

The ultimate goal of the AstroCup project is to offer more choices to menstruating astronauts.
