The Sky Guide app (I think it used to be called Sky Safari) is one of my all time favorite astronomy apps. Live compass, tracking, info, notifications of events, and tons of neat info on everything space and star related.

The Skystone is a boulder in Bonney Lake, state. It was deposited approximately 13,000 years ago. It has over 20 pits pounded into its surface, presumably by members of the tribe. The holes seem to point towards both and geographic features. More: megalithic.co.uk/article.php?s

observations have confirmed dark matter’s existence, but what exactly is dark matter? In What Is Dark Matter?, particle physicist Peter Fisher introduces readers to one of the most intriguing frontiers of . We cannot actually see dark matter, a mysterious, nonluminous form of matter that is believed to account for about 27 percent of the balance in the .

Europe turns its new $1.5 billion on, and happily it works
Unlike Hubble, however, was not designed to focus on single galaxies or stars or other phenomenon in great detail. Rather it is intended to look at broad areas of the sky to obtain a more comprehensive view of the cosmos. Over its six-year life, the telescope will survey about 36% of the sky.

Something in has been lighting up every 20min since 1988
Researchers announced discovery of object called GPM J1839-10, which emits regular bursts of radio energy similar to but with much longer interval of 21 minutes. The nature and physics behind this behavior remain unknown, as it does not fit into any existing astronomical categories or explanations, making it a unique and enigmatic phenomenon that requires further study and observation

This taught me that 100 years ago, had no idea there were other beyond our own 🀯

Already knowing how much of our current knowledge of everything is still brand new (in , , and terms), and under regular revision, is what makes me eye roll at almost every assertion in literally any science that any one concept is absolutely true and fundamentally unchanging.

Boffins puzzle over 's shape unlike any other electromagnetic jets, it is a strange structure have never seen before. "It is 70x brighter than any other gamma-ray burst discovered in over 50yr of observation." Part of reason why e explosion is so bright is because beams were directly pointed at Earth

Fear and power. That's all it was about.

Funny enough, they don't fall apart at all when looked at through an /#astrological (basically the same thing back then) lens. It's a big astro tome. Fascinating AF really.

@cwnidog That's not why.
The International Union filed for an injunction, arguing that the diagram shows our solar system has 9 planets, when in fact was convicted of theft identity in 2006 and lost the right to claim planethood.
Pluto's attorney has, in turn, filed a motion to allow the diagram, claiming that it should be covered under the grandfathering rules

Only true stargazers and astronomers would understand. At least I have 12 hours format on the widget.
