In today's blog post we will discuss whether #OpenAPI or #AsyncAPI is best for communicating the ins and outs of your #API
🧐 Have you ever wondered in which cases both standards reveal their strengths and weaknesses ?
You will know after this read ⬇️

If you are wondering whether you should switch from Swagger UI to Bump.sh, read why Aviobook did. There's more than just our support of both #OpenAPI and #AsyncAPI https://bump.sh/customers/aviobook?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=marketing
When I look back, I'm still amazed, surprised, incredulous of where #AsyncAPI got 😅
And even more knowing that this has just started. The amazing community we're building will take it to the moon 🚀
Was looking into standard based, schema-first messaging APIs. #AsyncAPI seems promising!
Buuut. I need a #Java generator for AMQP/RabbitMQ. The existing Java templates don't make a lot of promises for AMQP support.
Could I roll my own generator? Ideally, I'd want to generate customized Java classes as part of a Maven build anyway.
So I look into #JavaPoet for bespoke codegen, but that also looks to be in questionable maintenance mode.
Damnit, nobody has done my work for me
Interesting segmentation of event types in #AsyncAPI
* Notification Messages - 'minimal' for triggering
* State Transfer Messages - 'complete' for full sync
* Domain Event Messages - 'partial' for event-sourcing

Work: Currently building an #asyncapi specification for use in connecting our #java app with our #sap backend via an event broker…
Our #LEGO infrastructure domain experts then provides a service that can scaffold #ApachePulsar topics etc…
So at some point later we’ll connect #abap code to one side and #java on the other.
And then we’ll brag about having an *event driven* architecture!
(Currently sweating 😓 over naming conventions etc … so it’ll take a while 🙃)

RT LEGOEngineering: Exciting news! 🚀 Our http://AsyncAPI.NET project has just gone #opensource. The library seeks to become the standard in how to read and write #asyncapi specifications, within the dotnet ecosystem.
