Ostin palan nuoruutta takaisin, kun sattui osumaan kohdalle Atari Lynx II järkevään hintaan.

Lynxistä oli konkat vaihdettu uusiin ja näyttö vaihdettu modernimpaan IPS-näyttöön.

Suomessahan Lynx jäi ihan täysin GameBoyn jalkoihin, mutta itselleni se oli varsin rakas - vaikkakin omistin aikoinaan sen teknisesti identtisen, mutta isomman möhköversion eli Lynx 1:n. #atarilynx

@deanjimmy Here is everything Raiden related that I have. Like you, I really have a soft spot for the series.

I see you have Raiden Project. I always wanted that one back in the day but when I finally got a PlayStation it was impossible to find locally.

Even more, I always wanted the #AtariLynx and #AtariJaguar versions of the first game. I'm just really curious about them and there is nothing else like them on the platform. Maybe one day I will get the chance to pick those up.

If you lived your late 80s teenage life in computer magazines, as I did, you'll probably have an imprinted recollection of Californa Games on the #AtariLynx. It seemed to be the game that was running in all the photographs - that or Blue Lightning.

This port cuts the events down to four, losing Skating and Flying Disk. It has it's own aesthetic and some funky scaling effects. And surfing goes to the left, weirdly. Overall, it controls and plays really well.

Da fällt mir noch ein: ich habe auch noch ein Prototypen S.I.M.I.S Modul. Das hat als letztes „S“ SFX by Carl Forhan, das es nicht in die finale Version geschafft hat.

Also irgendwie würde ich es nicht als absurd bezeichnen, aber ich habe ein Homebrew Entwicklungskit für #AtariLynx. Das läuft auf #AtariST und wird über einen Port des STs mittels selbstverlötetem
COMLynx Kabel mit dem Lynx verbunden. Da ich zuletzt auf dem C64 in Assembler programmiert habe, bin ich nie über das testweise Laden von fertiger Homebrew (Loderunner) hinausgekommen. Entwickler des DevKits war afair Lars Baumstark.

All of the handhelds of the time got ports, with varying degrees of success.

Best of them is the #GameGear port, which is basically the #SMS version with a smaller viewing area. Still plays great.

#AtariLynx has some impressive zooming, but plays quite slowly.

The #GameBoy port is something of a miracle it runs at all. It's okay... a bit fiddly, and requires vertical scrolling too much.

The #GBColor is much the same, but more, um, colourful.

#MasterSystem is an okay port with various QoL improvements (continues) and some gameplay tweaks.

#MegaDrive is slick and sounds great, but it runs too fast and is balls hard.

#PCEngineCD is probably the best of the bunch. Like the MS, it has continues, and the CD music is truly awesome!

Honourable mention to the #AtariLynx, with its unexpected port. Colourful, controls okay... but hey, it's still SotB.

8bit-Slicks is the racing game for #AtariLynx, #Atari8bit, #C64, #AppleII, #Oric1 featuring solo play, local multiplayer and online cross platform play. Lynx version just won 5th Annual Atari Homebrew Awards.
