I just spent 30 minutes reworking my personal letterhead to use #AtkinsonHyperlegible #typeface from the #BrailleInstitute. It's a typeface that is designed with extremely clear letterforms and (a personal favorite) a slash-zero.

My vision is outstanding (well, other than being over 40 and so seeing an indistinguishable blob at less than a meter), but ... why not make it easier? I appreciate the role of typefaces in design elements, but for general text go with accessibility!

the keming in Atkinson Hyperlegible is really a bit all over the place at different sizes, very visible in the “ili” of "legibility". I hope that's just my font hinting settings #fonts #AtkinsonHyperlegible

I have struggled in the past to find a font that makes it easier for me to read on my laptop or various devices. On my Mac I have most of my apps changed to use Myriad Pro but today I saw a link to a font called Atkinson Hyperlegible. It has been created by the Braille Institute to help people with low vision to read.

That may have been the intent but I have found that it makes my computer screen much easier to read.

@DD @hildabast @tombofnull I've noticed there aren't symmetrical letters, but the weights of a character's trace aren't differentiated quite as heavily as in fonts to facilitate reading for dyslexics.

Je viens de découvrir la police Atkinson Hyperlegible et je suis amoureux .

Rien que pour la différentiation de I L l et i, c'est un bonheur pour les yeux. Mais toutes les lettres sont exagérées de manières à ce qu'elles soient uniquement identifiables par un serif ou des ronds plus exagérés.
