🎧 Morning, y'all. First Friday music — "Son of a Preacher Man" performed by #ArethaFranklin (1969).

John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins wrote the song in 1968 with Aretha in mind, but #AtlanticRecords boss #JerrtWexler gave it to #DustySpringfield who was recording in #Memphis at the time. That's the version most remember.

Aretha recorded it the next year. I love the song and both interpretations.

I like this ATCO better than yesterday’s Not so much for the design itself, but more for how it works on the turntable. I don’t own any records with ATCO’s best label, the 3-color block. In the 90s, ATCO was absorbed by another Atlantic sub-label, EastWest Records America which was, in turn, taken over by Atlantic’s Elektra. Rhino had a few ATCO co-reissues in the 2000 before Atlantic finally revived the ATCO name in 2020. Whew! #atcorecords #atlanticrecords #vinylcollection
