One way to add inertia to Mastodon adoption is via bot-based Twitter and RSS feed replication. Multiple options exist, but I'm glad developers are expanding them: TootBot - github.com/cquest/tootbot.

I'm kicking the tires running it on an and thinking over which sources my bot will replicate. Good content in the Fediverse is increasing, but more needs to be pulled over.

Intro to my , the rack in my basement utility room. So much fun stuff! The this toot came from is on the Mac Mini on the right!

Some highlights:
- PoE router.
- A 1U Dual Xeon 2650v2 . 16 cores total. 64GB RAM. Woah. I don't keep it on, but it's nice.
- Couple o' Mac Minis running . These make such great home servers.
- A bare board, also running Debian. The "never turns off" proxy & web server.
- UPS protected
- 1G up/down Fios

😁

Are there people here running a NAS with a ? Since it's x86 based it can run or . And it's even more powerful as basic Synology or QNAP stations. I will need a new NAS eventually and building a complete new NAS with desktop components is rather costly. A is not powerful enough and doesn't have x86 support, then i came across the AtomicPi with an Intel quadcore. Most HDD cases for a Rasperry also can hold a AtomicPi. I am not sure, where to ask regarding this

OMG! 64GB of eMMC storage and 2GB RAM at sub $100 pricing. :blobwitch:

Raspberry Pi 4 seems less impressive now.

With a USB to wire/barrel adapter I could power the from that charging USB port (up to 2.4A) needing only one power supply with the same advantages.

Another thing I have learned on the (now continued at home): using a powered USB hub allows to avoid power cycling the HDD every time the needs to be restarted.
Also see my simplest 1€ take on the power supply adapter.

just bought an to take my home media server's power consumption down from 175W under load to 15W under load.

Our main TV still uses almost 300W though...
