Micah sighed and pressed the button. Through the tinted glass she watched the remnants of her former life #atomise. It was necessary, her therapist said. Healthy. No use hanging onto things that only hurt her. They were right, of course, but that didn't stop the ache.
Zaza pointed at the screen that was paused on a frame showing an elegant woman using an atomizer.
"See these things? We need them!"
David brought up the screen on his device & made a few deft selections for the replicator.
"Here you go. I picked out some different perfumes for in them." The Better Angels fought over them & began to spray each other with them.
"Stinky!" they shrieked. "They're stinky! Stinky! Stinky! Stinky!"
Rolling his eyes, David returned to the bridge.
They came from beyond our world and people disappeared in clouds of mist and vapour.

“Fancy gun Knuckles,”
“Yeah, just came down from Section 11.”
“Tested it out yet? How does it fire?”
“It’s the strangest thing. Almost silent. No muzzle flash. No ammo, so no cartridges.”
“No ammo?”
“No, it charges between shots.”
“What’s it do?”
“Ever seen something #atomize before?”
“Don’t think so.”
Knuckles looked at the wide, squat gun in his hands for a moment and then handed it over. “Let’s just say: stand up wind, and keep your mouth closed.”

"To protect against artificial ravages," said the PM, "we will #atomise society into discrete units. Individuals will not meet, mingle, or otherwise socialise, except where specifically licensed to do so for the purposes of directed breeding."
And so, divided we fell.

I should add I'm not a Covid denier, anti-mask, nor anti-vax. I'm supportive of isolation for infected individuals. This is a fictional account in which I postulate draconian laws disguised as protective measures.
