I seem to be getting an itch to write things for my #blog recently.

After reading some good reviews of new work coming out of the #Cairn jam #ATownAForestADungeon written by @catshavenolord, I was inspired to write a piece about an adventure I really liked from the Jam.

Tulgey is an Alice-in-Wonderland-inspired adventure/setting for Cairn. It's got capricious queens, Mark Turtles, rumors about Jabberwocky. It's fun.

I realized I'd never actually stocked the dungeon part and I needed to make up some monsters. Then I made up one that kind of freaked me out too much. Maybe I'll write something for Mork Borg again some day

I might use this public domain art for the cover for my #ATownAForestADungeon game. Does anyone recognize this as having been used by another ttrpg zine

I suspect I am not finishing my #aTownAForestADungeon jam entry on account of I am not close to finishing and it is also Pride weekend

I am pretty close to having a first rough draft of my #ATownAForestADungeon jam entry, but I have been slighly distracted by making a hex map with the HPS cartography kit (https://natetreme.itch.io/cartographykit) and have rediscovered that fog of war is just fun to play with (though now that I think about it, you wouldn't see the town in the second map since water flows downhill and there's stuff in the way)

Sketched out a mercenary guard from the adventure I'm working on for the #CairnRPG #aTownAForestADungeon Jam.

It's been nice practicing drawing again.

When going for a walk, an idea for a name for the #ATownAForestADungeon jam entry came into my head, which is "How I Put Down My Shovel and Picked Up My Sword"

Now after Procedures to Discover the Path Ahead I told myself to never write a title with more than 10 syllables again

But I do like the name. I did spend an inordinate amount of time trying to think of a medieval peasant tool that scans.I might switch that word out if I think of a better one

The intention here is to make a tutorial for playing Cairn solo, after some conversations on some discords about not knowing where to start.

This one starts off fairly railroady but will open up once you get out of what is basically the tutorial dungeon.

I’ve been getting a head start on my adventure for the #aTownAForestADungeon jam for #Cairn since I know the time will get away from me, but I’m excited to really get into it now that the jam month has started. Here’s a peek of some of the art I’ve been working on, traced and modified from some CC-licensed pieces in the JSTOR Wellcome collection.

It’s called “Midnight in Bonetown” and there’s gonna be a lot of skeletons if you’re into that kind of thing.

There was a discussion on one of the discords about people not really knowing where to start with playing solo and wanting more structure. So basically I will try and write a tutorial adventure, that introduces people to how I play adventure games solo and how to use Cairn's particular game philosophies to your advantage
