Same thing for me… I should be hanging out here, where most of the #iOSDev moved. Instead, I'm spending most time on #Bluesky, the #ATProto devs Discord and hacking on various tools for the API, and I try to drag people there one by one.
Not sure exactly what it is that's pulling me there… Some combination of UI/UX, tech architecture, some unspecified "vibe", and the feeling of being a part of something new that's only starting to be built, a "greenfield project".
https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ finds contacts on #bluesky as well. I am still waiting for other #ATProto instances to materialize. While I like certain aspects of the protocol, it doesn't reflect how I want communities to function (see https://social.luca.run/@luca/110282771133307616).
From my 2042 followings, #fedifinder found 488 fediverse handles and 104 bluesky handles (at least 9 false positives).
I've been tracking how the number of posts per day on #Bluesky is going - looks like it's now at about ~400k posts per day from 70-75k users, which is around 4-5x what it was when I started recording data 2 months ago 📈 #ATProto #ATProtocol
(*) I think it's mostly furries though because my people aren't posting much 🙃

hm this actually seems like a good argument in favor of the #atproto method of allowing dns names as handles, regardless of data storage service used
not everyone has means to run their own instances but anyone with a couple bucks can get a domain name
People hearing about #bluesky should know that it's Dorsey's (Former #birdsite CEO pre-acquisiton) attempt at recreating twitter. The #ATProto protocol it's based on may be open on paper, but can't be feasibly implemented at scale by anyone else.
FWIW, unlike ActivityPub (which is used by Mastodon and others), there is only one implementation/instance of ATProto (Bluesky's).
@logan
Kinda. I decided I'd keep this account as primary until the chaos subsided. :)
I also decided to keep taking regular backups of my content just in case noc.social suffers the same unfortunate fate...
Kinda get the feeling #BlueSky might end up pocketing a ton of Twitter users. Was reading up on their #atproto and, based on the little I understood, it seems like an interesting architecture...
#JackDorsey's manifesto is alleged in some circles to be the defining outline for the #ATProtocol #ATProto
I have yet to read anything from anyone who has performed an audit of the #Bluesky source code, as installed and in use, to verify that it implements the #ATP as it's claimed to do

Who wants a #bluesky invite code ? bsky-social-5llvb-mfdks #atproto #fediverse
Operative phrase: "supposed to be"
The #Bluesky source code is on Github
I've not heard anyone who confirms that the claims for the AT Protocol are actually *found* in the source code
And "decentralized" is the claim
Until there's multiple instances online and publicly available, that's PR smoke-and-mirrors

The #ATProtocol aka Authenticated Transfer Protocol, aka #ATProto
Intrigued by the AT Protocol and glad to be there.
Not that I am changing my mind about the superiority of the #Fediverse, but as long as technology is #decentralized, I am happy to be testing it.
Thanks so much for the invite, @rabble!

Every time I read something about #ATProto I hear a squealing modem in my head until I realize they’re not talking about the AT command set.
This comparison is excellent!
#ActivityPub could be the Next Big Thing but decentralized social media is threatened by corporate interests building their own proprietary stacks, like #ATproto
How do we prevent history from repeating itself?
@robertvh @ElMustachio Just a short look on GH says 13 public repos for #atproto and 293 public repos for #activitypub
I await the day there is a Bluesky-ActivityPub gateway, like there is for that Cryptobro-heaven Decentralized Platform.
Alternatively, I hope Bluesky fails, but since it probably won't, gateways ahoy.

Mastodon is still unsustainable social media.
I strongly believe the Authenticated Transfer Protocol (ATP) will solve all Mastodon problems!
Why so?

@taz @fishecon by reading up on #ATProto, I do find it technically fascinating, and their justification for not using #ActivityPub seems sound, but I do not have that deep of knowledge about AP either to judge.
Honestly, what mostly frustrates me about #BlueSky is that most of the "social media experts" that write in the media treat it as the only decentralized protocol in existence. I complained about it a year ago, too.
