August 4 was the 15th anniversary of my joining Twitter. I had stopped using it months earlier, but decided to wait until the anniversary to delete the account so I could get that extra little shot of serotonin from closing it on the day.
I closed the account today. Thank you, #AuDHD! š
I found this a couple of years ago, but neglected to note who said it or where it came from, so apologies to the original author. Still, it sums things up pretty well for me:
āSolitude is like oxygen for me; it's a must. I love connecting with people, but I love reconnecting with myself even more. Getting back in flow with my own rhythm, my true and authentic self without anyone else's energy influencing me. It's never personal, it's self care.ā #AuDHD #Neurodivergent
AuDHD me has all the motivation in the world to digitize an obscure album of easy listening music from 1965, but none to hang the amazing new top-down/bottom-up shades that were delivered a week and a half ago. #Neurodivergent #MakeItMakeSense #AuDHD #ASD

I hope you have a good day today. I know life can be really hard. š

Hi #Neurodivergent Mastodon. Do you have #ADHD, #ASD ( #autism ), #AuDHD, or another form of neurodivergence AND play #TTRPGS? Do you run games for neurodivergent people?
I'm working on a project that might be of interest and I want to talk to you.
I'm currently working on a set of safety tools for neurodivergent people and need some play-testers.
I'm also looking to see what kind of challenges you and the others at your table experience so I can cover needs that don't come up at my table.

Autistic people can sometimes be criticized for being too blunt or rude. Many of us use direct communication with no filters.
We say what we are thinking, and mean it.
If we see an emperor with no clothes walk by, we will point it out to you.
It just took me 10 minutes and three tries to leave the Upper School building without forgetting anything. On the plus side, Iām now that much closer to closing all three rings on my fitness app! #AuDHD #SilverLining
I have trouble understanding and identifying my own emotions. Alexithymia is common amongst autistic people.
I will often display an emotion that I see others doing in order to āpassā.

@RosethornRangerTTV @actuallyautistic I find the definition of friendship to vary widely and tend to use a friendship pyramid or scale. What sort of interactions and level of intimacy are you asking about? #autistic #actuallyautistic #audhd

(contād thread) I often feel like the way I behave is sometimes acceptable, and sometimes it isn't. When it isn't, I don't understand why I should have to change it.
I don't think I get autistic burnout, however i also don't have a very stressful job at the moment, whereas when I did have a stressful job I would end up bursting into tears at home or waking up with crippling anxiety, etc.
I dunno. I guess it's something to think about.
Even though you probably wouldn't say so, after over a month of procrastination and battles within, I finally went to get a haircut.
(it was extremely hard)

I've been increasingly thinking about whether I might be on the autistic spectrum. I know I have ADHD; I was diagnosed as a child, and quite rigorously, vs the stereotype that the family doctor or a shrink just hands out ritalin so little billy can get better grades and stop being a fuss in school. I was really having difficulties relating to other kids and focusing my attention / ceasing focus on things. The official diagnosis is what we currently call ADHD-H + Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
But there's this other thing, that I think got bundled up in the anxiety part conceptually, which is that I was having trouble relating and interacting with other kids.
I hate math, I don't like trains, and what I hyper-focus/perseverate on changes on a rotating basis. I have friends and I'm nice and I don't stand up at con writing panels and argue with myself in front of everyone. So I'm not autistic, right?
Ehh. I dunno. (contād)

My short term memory isnāt so great, so I will often find myself putting the same things off over-and-over again in an endless loop.
Do you ever deal with this?

Today one of the most special people in my life celebrates another year on this planet. My darling Lex, I am forever grateful to know and love you, and to be known and loved by you in return. You've given me an #AuDHD loved one to infodump with (don't ever stop, I love it), a gentle, loving touch when I need it, and a wise mind to go to for help when I'm struggling. Simply seeing your picture fills me with such joy, nevermind gazing into your eyes.

I can be pretty stubborn and not great at apologizing. It wasnt something that was modelled for me in a healthy way growing up.
That combined with the sometimes awkwardness of my #AuDHD social skills, I find that having a qualifying question has been helping me.
So what I am working on understanding is that if I am at the point of "I wonder if I should apologize?" then the answer is a definitive "YES" (also defaulting to yes)
Do you have a trick to know when an apology is appropriate vs not?
Some autistic people find making phone calls extremely stressful and unpleasant and will avoid them at all costs.
Please donāt try and force your communication preferences on others.
