Audie Murphy made some great westerns. The Duel at Silver Creek (1952) is not one of them. It does however look great and is fun in a movie junk food sort of way. Don Siegel directed so there's plenty of fine action. I enjoyed it.

Ride Clear of Diablo (1954) is a fairly standard revenge western but it's well-crafted and worth seeing for the fine performances by Audie Murphy and Dan Duryea as enemies who become unlikely allies. It did need a more memorable villain.

Ride a Crooked Trail is a 1958 Audie Murphy western and I'm a big Audie Murphy fan. It's the mysterious stranger riding into town thing, and the mistaken identity thing, but with some twists.

An interesting western with a bit of character complexity. Good stuff. Great performances by Audie Murphy and Walter Matthau.

Law and Order (AKA Guns A'Blazin, 1932). The bleakest of all pre-1960s westerns.

Winchester '73 (1950). James Stewart discovers his dark side.

7 Men From Now (1956). Budd Boetticher's greatest film.

No Name on the Bullet (1959). Very modern for the 50s.
