Interesting new #AudienceResearch facility:
‘New Bristol cinema will measure audience reactions’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-66312437
I’ve seen (understandable) concerns about surveillance, but given who’s involved (and the specialist tech) I don’t think it’d be rolled out at scale in that way: it sounds more of a ‘test-screening’ set-up… (I believe they have something similar at the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics).
An interesting article on the Cost of Living and theatre-goers, by David Brownlee of Data Culture Change :https://www.thestage.co.uk/features/ask-the-audience-what-does-the-cost-of-living-crisis-mean-for-theatregoers
TLDR: The situation's improving, but those who are least well off are most squeezed...

@akstuhl @andy I started my #audienceresearch career in radio, and have some funny stories of focus groups, listener feedback if that's helpful.
We noticed that some of our smartest customers were searching the same audiences every month.
Why?
Because they wanted to see how these audiences' behaviors were changing.
So we made a whole new feature out of it.

I have an opinion that I’d like to vet. Is there a difference between #audienceresearch and #userresearch? Or between #audiences and #users? If so, what is it?
