When I first discovered #AudioDescription I went straight to my home-media of the 1986 Jim Cameron film #Aliens looking for it.

It didn't exist. None of the streaming services had it either.

"Be the change you want to be in the world".

I wrote a complete audio-description script for the 2.5 hour film. That, and the write up of my experiences is here:

@weirdwriter I notice you've written the #AudioDescription for a number of trailers on the Social Audio Description site.

Nobody has written much (if anything) about the challenges and techniques for describing trailers as opposed to longer form or other media.

I'm looking at writing some AD for a couple of Australian film trailers as writing practice.

Any tips?

Where are all the #AudioDescription scripts? Film and TV scripts are routinely released for study, but the only AD scripts I've read are those I've written.

Why have a separate app for #AudioDescription? It should be on #TVNZPlus as long as you have the setting enabled on #AppleTV #GoogleTV. @weirdwriter asked about writing quirks of #AudioDescription on Another Platform. My AD writing quirk is sometimes I'm a bit stream-of-consciousness and miss connective tissue in sentences.

For example I recently wrote a complete script for the Jim Cameron film #Aliens and wrote this line: "She strikes one of the flares like a match, drops it on the floor."

Really, it should have been "... like a match AND drops it on the floor".

The narrator pulled me up on that, and quite right too.

So, apparently the audio game a Heroes Call has been released as freeware now. I am definitely going to check that out this afternoon. I’m also gonna watch some movies with audio description, have some wine, and some sloppy Joe’s! Series 2 of Good Omens is out now on #Prime. I’m not sure how they can follow the 1st series, but any show with David Tennant is always worth watching. I just hope it’s got Audio Description.

Watched #Hellraiser 2022, the audio described version.

I saw it last year, and was interested how it held up, and on audio only.

One of the best films in the "series". It's thematically coherent and has some nice character moments and dialogue.

The narrator unfortunately sounded like a 1990s trailer, deep voice, over-earnest and over-dramatic. Not quite a mood-kill, but didn't really feel the right tone for it.
