#SkyWatch #Astrophotography I went back to some data I captured in February to reprocess it for practice. The #FlamingStar Nebula is an emission and reflection nebula in the #Auriga constellation. It is about 1500 light years from Earth. The bright yellow star is called 16 Aur and is actually a triple star system with the brightest of the three being 5 billion years old. #StillLearning

#GreenComet2023 will be visible-ish again Friday & Saturday evening (with binoculars or a telescope)
From the article:
"To spot the #comet as it passes #Mars, viewers in the northern hemisphere should face west after the sun has set and locate Mars as an orange point of light to the right of the #Orion constellation. The comet should be just one degree above the planet next to the #Auriga constellation"

High overhead is the gorgeous yellow #Capella; the little goat. It’s the brightest star in #auriga the charioteer.
I’m not kidding. I’m color blind and I still can’t get enough of the color of this star. The dot in the night you see is four stars orbiting each other in two pairs, kinda like the teacups ride at the amusement park. Oy... dizzy...
Speaking of the #Moon moving from night to night, tonight we'll see the Moon has moved eastward and is now about halfway between two bright stars: Orange-red #Betelgeuse in #Orion the hunter and golden yellow #Capella in #Auriga, the charioteer.
This is about smack in the middle of the #WinterHexagon, one of the most astoundingly amazing sights in the entire sky.
