I witnessed something like this too, when I was visiting Auschwitz Museum in 2007.

Tourists taking happy laughing selfies in front of the many bulletholes in a wall where 100's were executed. And I got disgusted by how some of the visitors acted like they didnt understand that they were in a place of mourning and great tragedy.

In my family noone was willing to talk about their experiences and the family members murdered by the Nazis, sometimes they took their stories to the grave, occasionally they would eventually open up about it and I believe it may have helped them to do so.
This is why #AuschwitzMuseum is so important

Actually there's one thing that people still on #twitter could do : go to your favourite activist, artist, comedian, journalist, news outlet, representative, writer... 's account and ask them to transfer the content relevance to the #fediverse instead of making butter for the biggest private skewed platform on the internet !

And when they tell you "but I live from my twitter following", tell them how the #AuschwitzMuseum made in a month the following that took them 5 years to build on #birdsite
