During the tow home, backwards on a dolly lifting the rear wheels, the wind got under the fibreglass front, ripped the two catches pop-riveted to the sills off, and most of the first foot or so of sill.

Which is why I found myself a week later heading to Ponders End for car number two… more next week.

Bonnet didn’t quite fit between the front wings, so eventually I took it to Worcester for a front-hinged full-width fibreglass front (remember those?). Sadly no pictures exist of that…

One motorway journey, all four studs on the rear left wheel sheared off, the last one fortunately at walking pace.

Mine wasn’t like that…

£40 from my brother-in-law, solid and 948cc A-series reliability. Perfect first car.

Stage 1 head and Nikki carb from Mitcham Motors improved the performance. In hindsight, brake and damper upgrades would have helped too.
