On Sunday, my son crawled into bed at 6:20. After cuddles and cartoons I took him to the nature center and lunch. He said maybe 5 words to me, which is typical. When we got home I was completely wiped - so my wife took over and I went to nap. As I lay there, he came up behind me, kissed my back and left. As I think about that, I want to take every article, film, and tv show that said autistic people don’t feel empathy, and I want to punch it in the throat. #austism #autismdad #autismparent

Absolutely. My theory is that being away from people allowed me to start letting down my mask. Putting it back up is now obvious and jarring.

Every time I go into the office now it takes me all evening and some of the following day to recover.

I haven't really got back into the swing of the things after the pandemic & I don't really go out that much. However, yesterday I had to spend the afternoon in town. It was strange being around people. There's something 'other' about them (or me), like I belong to a different species. The best way I can describe it is that, when I'm out, I feel like characters in movies when they have to disguise themselves as these 'others' to avoid being noticed.

So "cold" has a small to me. It just smells cold. Room temperature and hot also have a smell. Could this be an autistic thing? My assessment got pushed back so it's next week now, but according to my coworkers, temperature doesn't smell.

My Gp refused rheumatology referral to support review of old diagnosis to evaluate on new scales. Was told 'don't bother, the treatments all the same anyway'.

Maybe that's why I'm so eager to leave it behind. #Twitter hasn't been fun for me since...2015, maybe? Not saying it's the same for everyone.

I really do think that Twitter was designed to appeal to #neurotypical people. Not only have I met more #neurodivergent people here, the subject matter of the conversations has been much more appealing to me.
