157 followers · 1066 posts · Server aus.socialFound an injured baby possum (nose to bum maybe 15-20cm) in daughters back garden earlier today. Possibly fallen out of a tree.
Had an injured back leg and bloody tail but was alert and hobbling. Managed to chuck a towel gently over it and get it into a box (it bit me in the process). Took it to the vet who later said they'd had to euthanase it.
Wondering if vets just do that anyway? Should i have tried RSPCA?

Just saw a shadow move towards our fig tree grove from a distance, went closer to investigate and eventually found this specimen high up in the branches! π¦ No wonder the birds were sounding the alarm! π¨ This beautiful Goanna could easily empty their nests πͺΊππͺΉ check out how they wrap their long tail around the tree for balance; from head to tail I'd guess this one to be approximately 1.8m long. Beauty! π€ (Where is a DSLR with a decent zoom lens when I need it... π)

Day 6: Mouse for #DoodleWashDecember2022 and #ArtAdventCalendar
This is a spinifex hopping mouse from central Australia. It generally lives in tunnels about a metre underground. They have really amazing kidneys that save nearly all the moisture so their urine is solid.
Painted in a concertina watercolour journal that I made myself. The paper is 300gsm hot press, 100% cotton by Boahong.

My #Introduction post.
These are a few of my favourite things! I spend a lot of time transporting kids to sports, and volunteering at these sports, organising though, not coaching! Love reading, aim to read 50 books each year. I get a lot of satisfaction from volunteering locally and working on regional agricultural statistics. We have travelled a lot through WA and love finding new places off the beaten track to explore. We still discover new places within 200km radius of Esperance!
