"Sandringham Beach," Clarice Beckett, c. 1933. An Australian artist, Beckett was a part of the Tonalist movement. Tonalism was a sort of post-Impressionism with soft focus & a more minimal outlook.
Beckett's work was not taken seriously in her lifetime & over 1,000 of her works were destroyed or lost via neglect. What survived is now praised & prized, & she is recognized as one of Australia's great artists.
